Ellie, Checie and Hannah, and their owner, Melanie  Brittain stayed at The Doghouse in December 2016. Hannah was the first dog to get her NW3 title while staying at the cottage.

A Home Away from Home - Thanksgiving 2016

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Center For K9 Excellence.  We were blown away by the attention to detail that the owner, Lisa, put into the cottage. First and foremost, it is comfortable and beautiful for the people! The Center is nestled among the trees and is quiet and peaceful. When we walked in the house we immediately noticed the beautiful stone fireplace along with modern and clean appointments.  We also immediately noticed the theme of the house - dogs! There is a wonderful collection of artwork, photographs, books, throws, salt shakers and more - all dog themed!  It is delightful.

The Center is dog friendly!  There are crates in every room, water and food bowls, a fenced yard and 2 decks!  Lisa's thought of everything for your dog's needs, too, including leashes and treats.  It is especially comforting to know that Lisa is a certified trainer, and for an extra fee, will look after or train your dog while you are away enjoying mountain life.

Every comfort has been considered, every detail taken into account.  It shows and that is part of the reason we enjoyed our stay so much.  We highly recommend The Center For K9 Excellence for those who want a getaway with or without their dog.

We have been watching as Lisa and Bill began remodeling "The Center For K9 Excellence" from the first bit of carpet ripped out, to the thoughtful  placement of the last work of art on the wall. It has been an incredible transformation. The cottage is all that anyone could ask for when staying for a week or a weekend! It is cozy, comfy and homey. No detail has been left out. We are sure that anyone who plans a stay at The Doghouse will leave relaxed and rejuvenated.

Paw Paw (above), and owner Vicki Tate, were the first National Association of Canine Scent Work team to enjoy staying at The Center For K9 Excellence- 12/03/2016.

The Center For K9 Excellence is located just 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and an area called "The Lump," seen here is this photo.

The Center For K9 Excellence

West Jefferson, NC is in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the larger Appalachian Mountain range.  Starting at its southernmost portion in Georgia, then ending northward in Pennsylvania. The Blue Ridge Mountains are noted for having a bluish color when seen from a distance. Trees put the "blue" in Blue Ridge, from the isoprene released into the atmosphere, thereby contributing to the characteristic haze on the mountains and their distinctive color.
